Journalism was not my first choice. I was going to be a narrative film maker, like Steven Spielberg or George Lucas. I went to film school, which turned into theatre school (a story for another day). For fun I took some photojournalism classes because I loved photography.
I made some short films on my own, and collaborated with some friends to make others. Finally one of these films made it into the Palm Springs Short Film Festival Market. There it was picked up by the New York International Short Film Festival. It was that trip that changed my focus, and introduced me to trauma in a big way.
The festival played in September of 2001. My film screened three times over the week of September 11th.
I wrote some journal entries on my flight home to try and remember some of the details of what we went through. I thought I would include them here.

Compelling. For sure, and , as one of your colleagues said, a subject not explored. So, good on ‘ya. Also, the world is well served, and a better place for the turn in your concentration, although, no matter your path I think the result would have been the same. A bright light shining, making a real difference.
