Return to Ground Zero

After 20 years we return to New York City and the site of the 9/11 attack.

I knew that this would be difficult, but had no idea what to expect. The emotions are hard to put into words returning to this place. This is sacred ground. The people that created the 9/11 memorial should be proud, the space is well designed and really allows for reflection and peace in this space.

To place a hand on the memorial and see the giant empty space where the twin towers once stood was breath taking. As difficult as it was, returning to this space was a healing experience.

New York was just one stop on a trip across the Country. We made several other stops at landmarks of newsworthy significance. The location of the Oklahoma City bombing and George Floyd Square were two other powerful stops.

It is hard to explain but these places have power. They hold the emotions, hopes and fears of the events that took place there. To be in those places and to have that experience was powerful indeed.

Let us never forget the past and work towards a better future.
